Week 14 (Semester 2) : Presentation

after finish my final year project, the presentation have been done by week 14. the machine is shown and be tasted in front of assessor.below are the poster and the final look of my Plastic Bottle Shredder Machine.

Week 13 (Semester 2): Finishing

the final look of my project is shown below.

after finishing constructed the machine, the result have been taken.

Result

the result of the plastic bottle shredder machine is shown as above.the plastic bottle is shred into a small part compare to the normal size of the plastic bottle. as we can see, the bottle also be squashed to flat and some of the plastic bottle part is shred.

Week 12 (Semester 2): Final prototype

the final method is constructed and been adjust for the best result. this are some of the works or result of construction of this machine :

the heavy duty induction motor will drive the metal blade by using wheel and axle method and timing belt. 

this roller is used to rotate the blade inside the box to crush the plastic bottle.

bearing is used to give the smoothest rotation to the blade.

Week 11 (Semester 2) : New method

after the failure, i have to make a lot of changes to this machine to make it works. the  new method have been found to shred the plastic bottle. by using the rotation blade produces using titanium will make the plastic bottle can cut into small pieces. to make this blade function it will take a lot of time because too much procedure have to take in action to avoid another failure

Week 10 (Semester 2) : Failure

the final part is mount to the project and be tested.

this kind of method have bring failure to this machine. the plastic bottle cannot be shred by using this method due to the hardness of the plastic bottle itself. as we know, plastic bottle are organic polymeric materials consisting of giant organic molecules. so it hard to cut or shred the plastic bottle due to his physical condition. the task was failed because when the grass cutter blade hit the plastic bottle to cut it, the grass cutter blade cannot cut the plastic bottle and the force given by the induction motor make the grass cutter blade force itself to cut it and at last the grass cutter blade is crooked and hit the body of part A and everything is disintegrate. the result of this kind of method is a failure.

i will explain the process of this machine. This plastic bottle shredder machine is used to shred the plastic bottle into tiny part. this is my idea how to build the project. the body with blade will force the plastic bottle to go down slowly and at the end of the part A the bottle will be cut with the grass cutter blade in part B with the speed of 1500rpm. but to make the position of part A and B in center is very difficult because it will take a lot of time and a good measurement without 0 error to make that thing precise.

Week 7 (Semester 2) : Project progress

the project is still under process and it may have take time up to 2 or 3 month to finish this project if there no failure during the construction.below are some of the parts and things that will be used in my fyp project

Grass cutter blade is used to mount to the heavy duty single phase induction motor shaft.
the blade is added with strong metal to make the blade hard to bend

Week 6 (Semester 2) : Project construction

after the final drawing have been analyze and agreed by my supervisor, the project is star to be constructed. the item that have been purchased will be fixed to the project. the item like grinder, drill, welding machine are be used to make this project happen

week 5 (semester 2) : Item Purchased

i have bought some item for my final year project. the item will be update soon.because i have to do a little experiment to the item before confirmation to used it

Week 4 ( Semester 2) : Final Drawing Rejected

after showed my final drawing to my advisor, the drawing has been rejected..the blade that i used is not reliable to shred the plastic bottle..after having a discussion with my advisor, he advice and recommend me to used the method that have in scissors.i have to try and error about the blade that have been discuss with my advisor.

Week 1 (Semester 2) : Example of plastic shredder machine

There are some example of plastic bottle shredder machine that have been build. but its all in a heavy shredder mode. my machine will not be this bigger but i`ve take some of the idea to make my fyp project.

Week 9 : Findings

My advisor has find an old paper shredder machine.it have to be maintenance back to reused it.dont know yet either its still can used after the maintenance.the machine can complete the part of my project because i`ve to shred the plastic bottle

Week 8 : Continue Project Drawing & Chapter 1

the sketch of the machine is still under progress.and within the same time, i have doing some of the Chapter 1 :Introduction for the final report fyp sem 1.but its all still under progress.it will be update when fully chapter 1 is finish

Week 7 : Project Drawing

by using the software Google Sketch Up, i`ve try to do the sketch according to the machine original scale. but it take`s a long time to finish it. because there is certain part that need to take a time to consider it.so the drawing is still under progress

Week 6 : Research finding

continue the research about project background.in history, this project is never be done before. so to make this project comes to reality, a heavy research has to be done

Week 5 : Research about the project

the past 5 week after the title given, research about the machine part is been carried out. the research is more to select the best material part for this machine such as

• type of motor for compressed and shredder process
• a high quality metal for the mechanical part (body)
• sensor 

collect some ideas to build the machine will take a whole lot of time because it`s more to mechanical part.the research going on have given some ideas to build the machine.

•      INTRODUCTION

            The development of Plastic Bottle Shredder Machine is a part of environmental friendly machine that can reduce the amount of plastic bottle waste in the recycle bin. This is because the bottle will automatically be shredder into small parts. So there will be more empty space compare to the normal recycle bin. In the other hand, this machine also can skip the part of recycling process which is in the Size Reduction Process

•     OBJECTIVE

                    The aim of this project is to develop a new shredder machine for waste plastic bottle which will  solve the problem of bottle dump in the recent recycle bin. To develop the project, there are several objectives to be accomplished which are:-

a)      The function of the sensor and timing power for the machine to turn `On` and `Off`

b)      The successful of roll metal structure to compressed the bottle, sharp and quality steel material for the blade in shredder process

c)      The result of tiny scarp material after the whole process finished

              In our day life, plastic bottle is one of the most kinds of things that we used such as drinking bottle, engine oil, a part of decoration and much more. This kind of things will increase the use of plastic bottle in our life. So the amount of the waste plastic bottle will be increase day by day and year by year. Plastic part is one of the hardest recycling items to be recycled. So with this kind of machine, it will be easy to do the recycle process because it has been shredder already before it will be sent to the recycling factory. 

•             METHODOLOGY

            The main focus of this project is to create a machine that can shredder the waste plastic bottle. In this case, for every purposed system, power consumption for the motor and the type of the motor that will be used will be determined to make sure the power for the machine is sufficient. The whole body parts also have to be considering due to this machine is using high power motor and a sharp blade to do the process.

            The operation of this machine is to use sensor at the place that the plastic bottle will be throwing to start the shredder process. The sensor is used to make this machine a very environmental friendly in saving electric consumptions. The sensor will automatically turn on the machine when the sensor detect something (plastic bottle) is passing the sensor line and the machine will turn on and the process will begin. The power will be turning on in the certain time due to make sure the process is completely finished. The sensor will turn off the machine after the period of time if there are no other things passing the sensor line.

            After the bottle is throw in this machine, the parts will be compressed in the compressing process using the roll of a metal structure. After the compressing process, the parts will go through the shredder process. This process used a very sharp blade to shedder the parts into very tiny and small parts. After the process finish the shredder parts will come out to the bin at the bottom of the machine and will be accumulated. The machine than will automatically turn off after the several time being set by the sensor and the end of the process

Week 2 : Plastic Bottle Shredder Machine

      this is a kind of introduction of this project...


   the development of Plastic Bottle Shredder Machine is a need for the used in industry or for an community.this machine will reduce the size of the plastic bottle waste into a small & tiny part of waste.which is very environmental friendly and can save more space in the recycle bin


         Machine itself will compressed the bottle and then will shredder it into small parts before all the waste will be throw in to the bucket at the bottom of the machine..as we all know plastic is one of the organic polymeric materials consisting of giant organic molecules.  Plastic materials can be formed into shapes by one of a variety of processes, such as extrusion, moulding, casting or spinning. Modern plastics (or polymers) possess a number of extremely desirable characteristics; high strength to weight ratio, excellent thermal properties, electrical insulation, resistance to acids, alkalis and solvents..


        With this kind of machine is being develop, there are less worry for the space of the plastic bottle waste and can make the recycling process more easier to do :)
